The children were among eight people injured in a knife attack in Annecy, southeastern France, on Thursday, local authorities said.
A male suspect was arrested in connection with the attack. The French Prime Minister, Elisabeth Borne, will travel to Annecy on Thursday with the Minister of the Interior Gérald Darmanin, as reported by the Ministry of the Interior.
Health Minister Francois Braun tweeted that his thoughts were with the victims of the knife attack. “All my thoughts go out immediately to the people injured by a knife-wielding individual in Annecy and their loved ones,” Braun tweeted.
“I welcome the rapid mobilization of the emergency services to attend to the victims, and in particular the Emergency Medical Service (SAMU).”
Lawmakers of the French National Assembly observed a minute of silence for those injured in the attack.
