BOSTON – A Boston police officer was hospitalized after being shot twice near Clifford Park in Roxbury Friday night, officials said.
A shooting suspect is in custody.
According to District Attorney Kevin Hayden, the officer was shot in the foot and back in the area of 44 Cedric Street around 9:30 p.m.
The officer was transported to Boston Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries, DA Hayden said.

Boston Mayor Michelle Wu and Boston Police Commissioner Micheal Cox have arrived at the hospital where the officer is being treated.
According to sources, the shooting could have originated in a case of armed robbery.
