Delhi Congress will hold ‘Chaupals’ today in solidarity with women fighters
The Delhi Congress will hold public meetings in solidarity with women wrestlers who have accused Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh of sexual harassment, a party leader said on Friday. These “chaupal” meetings will be held on June 11. “The first public meeting will begin at 11 am on Sunday in Babarpur. Another meeting will be held in Mehrauli in the second half of the day,” a party leader said.
All Congress leaders from Delhi are expected to attend these meetings. According to party leader Devender Yadav, whose name has been doing the rounds for the post of Delhi Congress president, he planned these meetings in support of women fighters.
The fighters have demanded the arrest of outgoing WFI chief Singh, who they have accused of sexually exploiting women fighters. Delhi Police, which has recorded statements of more than 200 people in connection with the case, will file a chargesheet in the case by June 15, Sports Minister Anurag Thakur has assured the protesting wrestlers.
The fighters have agreed to stop their protest until then.
India will host the G20 Development Ministers meeting in Varanasi from today
India will host a three-day meeting of development ministers from G20 member countries in Varanasi starting Sunday that will focus on disruptions in global supply chains, food and energy security challenges and the impacts of climate change , among other issues.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will deliver a special video address at the start of the meeting which will be chaired by External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar.
About 200 delegates are expected to attend the meeting, according to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA). India is hosting the meeting in its capacity as the current chair of the G20.

Border talks between India and Bangladesh will begin in Delhi from today
India and Bangladesh will hold bi-annual talks between their border guarding forces in Delhi from June 11, during which the two sides are expected to discuss a range of issues related to fighting cross-border crimes and measures to create better synergy.

The four-day talks will conclude on June 14 at a BSF camp in southwest Delhi’s Chhawla area. “The conference is being organized to discuss the issues related to the border and for better coordination between both border guarding forces.” “Discussions will be held on how to jointly curb various cross-border crimes and share timely information between both border guarding forces,” a BSF spokesperson said in a statement.
