A banner on Fox News during former President Trump’s speech following his appearance on federal charges in Miami at one point referred to President Biden as a “would-be dictator.”

“WANNABE DICTATOR SPEAKS AT WHITE HOUSE AFTER HIS POLITICAL RIVAL ARRESTED,” read the chyron on Fox just before 9 p.m., as the network provided continuous live coverage of Trump’s comments. The network briefly aired a side-by-side view of Trump’s speech from his New Jersey golf club and Biden’s remarks from the White House, but never separated from the audio of Trump’s speech.

In a departure from a recent trend, Fox carried Trump’s remarks in full on Tuesday following his historic indictment, while other networks such as CNN and MSNBC did not.

Trump went on trial Tuesday on more than 30 charges related to his handling of classified documents that federal prosecutors say put America’s national security at risk.

Trump, who is running for the Republican nomination for president in 2024, has pleaded not guilty to all charges against him and has repeatedly dismissed the allegations against him as political persecution by Biden’s Justice Department.

In recent months, the former president has relentlessly attacked Fox, the top dog in cable news, for its coverage of GOP primary challenger and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and its refusal to support his false claims of electoral fraud. However, the former president is scheduled for an interview with the network’s top political anchor, Bret Baier, early next week.
