A young man is in the hospital Thursday after an early morning shooting in downtown Tulsa, police said.
Tulsa police say officers first responded to the scene, near East 1st Street and South Boston Avenue, around 12:50 a.m. Thursday after receiving a call about shots fired at the area Police say officers, who were already in the area, heard the gunshots before they got the call.
Police say they believe it all started after some sort of altercation at the center of the Universe Center landmark.
While searching the area, officers say they found trash cans in a nearby parking lot, but no victims were located in the area.
While investigating the scene, police received a call that a shooting victim had shown up at a local hospital. Police say they went to the hospital to try to piece together what led up to the shooting and talk to people who were with the shooting victim.
According to the officers, the victim was taken for surgery, but the extent of his injuries is not clear at this time.
Police have not yet identified anyone involved in the shooting, but officers say the victim was a juvenile.
Police say the search continues for the person responsible.
