With calm, dignity and historical context, your editorial essay (“Politics of Division” June 10) described the deteriorating state of human rights in our country today.
The essay rightly emphasized that divisive politics can never elevate our constitutional human rights when there are those who will advocate the eviction of those rights.
The piece was brilliantly grounded to remind us of our host Hawaiian culture where the dignity, acceptance and appreciation of all members of the community is valued and celebrated.
We can protect and perpetuate these values simply by practicing them in our daily lives. Thanks.
