PHOENIX (3TV/CBS 5) – The eastbound lanes of I-10 have reopened after a motorcycle crash closed them Monday morning.
Arizona Department of Public Safety officials have been investigating a motorcycle accident that occurred near Baseline Road around 2:45 a.m. DPS officials told the Arizona family that the rider swerved into a pickup truck and threw him off his bike. He was not wearing riding gear or a helmet and died of his injuries at the scene.
The truck driver temporarily lost control of the vehicle during the impact, causing it to spin, but was not injured or impaired. Authorities say the man cooperated with DPS at the scene and was released after making a statement. He will reportedly not be charged with anything. All lanes were temporarily closed during the initial investigation for several hours, but have since reopened.
