SEABROOK, NH — A 77-year-old Massachusetts man was killed in a crash on Interstate 95 in Seabrook Tuesday night, state police said.

Eraldo Bezerra, of Hudson, Mass., died in the crash that happened around 8 p.m. Tuesday, state police said.

At approximately 8:11 p.m., troopers responded to the report of a serious motor vehicle accident on I-95 North in the Town of Seabrook.

A white 2012 Chevrolet Express van had hit a bridge abutment and was smoking, state police said.

When emergency crews arrived, they found the driver, later identified as Bezerra, trapped inside the van and unresponsive, state police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

A preliminary investigation found the Chevrolet Express van left the road on the right side for an unknown reason, traveled approximately 200 feet across the grass and then struck the bridge abutment at the Route 107 overpass, he said the state police. The van has come to a complete stop in the right breakdown lane.

Two lanes of travel on I-95 north were closed for approximately two and a half hours while investigators were on scene.

The Seabrook Fire Department responded to assist state police.

This accident remains under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact Trooper Seth Parker at Seth.W.Parker@dos.nh.gov.
