THE PASSENGERS OF THE TITAN SUBMERSIBLE LOST AT THE SEA FLOOR, THE COAST GUARD IS LOCATED RESULTS OF THE VESSEL
ATLANTIC OCEAN – The United States Coast Guard on Thursday, June 22 found that “debris found on the sea floor is from the submersible vessel Titan, is ‘consistent with a catastrophic implosion.’ and thus the loss of the Titan and its five passengers, Rear Adm. John Mauger, first commander of the Coast Guard district, said during a news conference at 3 p.m. Special vehicles involved in the days-long interagency search for Titan, with oxygen supplies running out, found five large debris masses Thursday morning, which the Coast Guard believes is “consistent with an event of implosion”. The wreck was about 1,500 feet from the ballast of the ocean liner Titanic, which sank in 1912. The passengers of the submersible Titan were on a quest to see the wreck of the Titanic when they died. Mauger reported that at the discovery site, the debris was all from the submersible Titan, not the Titanic itself. Confirming that the families of the passengers have been notified, Mauger said: “I hope this discovery provides some comfort during this difficult time.”
“This is an incredibly unforgiving environment on the sea floor,” said Mauger, who added that the investigation into more details about the disaster will continue.

BILL WOULD INCREASE PENALTY FOR PARKING VIOLATIONS ON THE HIGH SIDE SO THE STREETS CAN BE CLEANED UP
BROOKLYN – Councilman Lincoln Restler introduced legislation Thursday, June 22, to strengthen penalties for violating the alternate side parking rules. The bill would increase fines over a 12-month period, with the first offense resulting in the current $65 fee, and second and third offenses resulting in a $100 fee. After the fourth violation in a year, the vehicle would be towed. The justification for the proposed penalties is street cleanliness, considered a higher quality of life issue, with 57% of the more than 8,000 complaints coming from Brooklyn. Restler said, “Our streets aren’t being cleaned, and it’s because it’s cheaper for New Yorkers to pay occasional alternative parking tickets… We need to increase the costs of alternative parking violation fees and encourage car owners to do their part to keep our streets clean”.
Alternate parking violations have also been a frequent complaint at the 84 meetingsth Neighborhood Council.
