VALENCIA THANK YOU. FOLLOW THIS MORNING’S NEWS. CREWS AT THE SCENE OF A HOUSE FIRE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE RIVER 11 REPORTER BRIANNA ROSS IS LIVE ON THE SCENE WITH THE BREAKING NEWS. BRIANNA, WHAT DO WE KNOW? ELI, WELL, JANINE, IT’S A VERY ACTIVE SCENE HERE. YOU CAN SEE ALL THESE FIRE TRUCK UNITS, THEY’RE AROUND THE BLOCK AT THIS POINT. AND THEN YOU CAN SEE THAT THERE ARE TWO VERY FAILED UNITS. WE SEE THE WINDOWS TOO. WE SEE SMOKE DAMAGE. AND SOME OF THEM ARE JUST CHARTED, MANY GIVEN, IT SAYS NO CIVILIANS HAVE BEEN INJURED IN THESE FIRES. BUT NOW I AM HERE WITH THE OFFICE CHIEF WITH THE BALTIMORE COUNTY FIRE DEPARTMENT. HE WILL TELL US A LITTLE MORE ABOUT THE SITUATION. WHAT CAN YOU TELL US ABOUT THIS SCENE HERE? YES 550 THIS MORNING BALTIMORE COUNTY FIRE AND EMS RECEIVED A CALL OF A HOUSE FIRE HERE ON DECATUR ROAD. 9800 BLOCK. WHEN THEY ARRIVED, THEY HAD HEAVY FIRE CONDITIONS COMING FROM THE ORIGINAL FIRE BUILDING. THEY ASKED THEM FOR A SECOND FIRE ALARM. THIS HAS HAPPENED IN ALARM. THEY CAN TURN IT OFF WITHIN THE FIRST 20 TO 25 MINUTES APPROXIMATELY. THERE WERE TWO FIREFIGHTERS INJURED, BUT NO CIVILIANS INJURED HERE TODAY. AND YOU TOLD ME THAT AT SOME TIME PEOPLE WERE TRAPPED AND THEY HAD TO TRY TO GET OUT ALONE. TELL ME A LITTLE ABOUT THIS. YES. WE INITIALLY HAD A REPORT THAT PEOPLE WERE TRAPPED INSIDE THE HOUSE. AND AS A RESULT OF THAT, WE DID A REPORT THAT AN INDIVIDUAL HAD JUMPED FROM THE SECOND FLOOR WINDOW. WE EVACUATED ALL OCCUPANTS FROM THE HOME HERE ON THE SCENE. ALL WERE INJURED AND NO ONE WAS TRANSPORTED FROM THE HOME. AND TELL ME A LITTLE WHAT IT COST TO PUT THIS FIRE OUT. I SEE A TON OF UNITS REALLY SPREAD THROUGHOUT THE BLOCK HERE. TELL ME ABOUT THAT, IF YOU CAN. YEAH, SO OUR TWO ALARM ASSIGNMENTS WILL TAKE APPROXIMATELY 35 APPARATUS TO ABOUT 70, 70 TO 80 FIREFIGHTERS. THAT’S WHAT WE HAVE HERE NOW. ANY INDICATIONS AT THIS POINT AS TO WHAT CAUSED THIS FIRE? I KNOW YOU SAID THE FIRE INVESTIGATORS JUST GOT HERE. DID THEY DISCOVER ANYTHING YET? NOW WE ANTICIPATE IT WILL TAKE A COUPLE OF DAYS, BUT WE DO NOT HAVE ANY PRELIMINARY INFORMATION ON THE CAUSE OF THE FIRE. WE DON’T SEE ANYTHING THAT APPEARS TO BE IMMEDIATELY SUSPICIOUS. DESPITE THAT. AND AS WE WERE PULLING UP, WE SAW A COUPLE OF ROADS. IF THERE ARE PEOPLE TRAVELING THROUGH THIS AREA, HOW LONG CAN THEY EXPECT ROAD CLOSURES HERE? SO THE MIDDLE RIVER ROADS PROBABLY BETWEEN MIDDLE RIVER AND OIX RIVER ROAD ARE PROBABLY THE BIG CLOSURES AROUND THE SCENE. BUT WE ESTIMATE PROBABLY FOR THE NEXT HOUR OR ABOUT, CREWS WILL STAY ON SCENE AFTERWARDS. I SHOULD BUY IT WAY DOWN. GREAT. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR TIME. Breana Ross is reporting live from the scene of a two-alarm house fire Saturday morning in Middle River. According to officials, around 5:50 a.m., firefighters arrived to the 9800 block of Decatur Road for a reported house fire to find heavy fire conditions that had spread to other units. A second alarm was called after the fire spread to neighboring houses. Two townhouses are heavily damaged and an additional townhouse has heat damage. The Baltimore County Fire Marshal says two firefighters have minor injuries from the fire. Although no civilians were injured, the bureau chief said one person jumped from a second-floor window to escape the fire. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
