July 2, 2023, 2:30 pm – The Cook Underwood Train Tunnel Fire that started near mile marker 52 of Highway 14 near the towns of Underwood and Cook has grown to 75 acres and is moving quickly with a high threat potential, according to a Washington department. Natural Resources tweet. Immediate evacuations were ordered.
The fire burns through grass and wood on steep terrain. It is now reported that 100 homes are being threatened by the fire. Evacuation orders are in place for Cook Underhill Road and a 2-mile radius around the fire, according to DNR.
