CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) – Police have identified the man killed in a shooting at an apartment complex in northeast Charlotte Monday evening.
According to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Departmentthe shooting happened around 7:30 p.m. on Prestigious Lane, which is in the Legacy Park apartment complex off Mallard Creek Road.
According to the police report, someone fired shots into a woman’s home, striking and killing 31-year-old Britton Owens in the hallway.
The report also mentions that a 5-year-old boy was inside the apartment at the time of the shooting.
On Wednesday, CMPD said it arrested Jamal Matthew Dean, 24, in connection with the case.

Police said he was arrested on an unrelated warrant, but after an interview with detectives, he was charged with the following crimes:
murderDischarge of a firearm by a convicted felonRobbery with a dangerous weaponConspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon
CMPD said the investigation remains active and ongoing.
