But those carefully crafted narratives that helped propel him to the Oval Office will crumble as the country lurches toward the 2024 election at a time of economic and global instability.
During the 2020 campaign, Biden and the media consistently presented him as the candidate to unify the country after four years under the former president. donald trump, which critics called “divisive”. After his election victory, Biden declared in a speech that it is “time to put aside the tough rhetoric, lower the temperature, see each other again, hear each other again.”
Biden took it a step further after taking office, threatening to fire anyone who did not share his views on decency and respect, telling nearly a thousand federal staff and appointees: “I am not I’m joking when I say this: If you’re ever working with me and I hear you treat another person with disrespect, talk to someone, I promise I’ll fire you right away.
But Biden’s inconsistency between his actions and his words is coming more to the fore ahead of what is expected to be an explosive 2024 presidential election.
Marina Joan Roberts
The president’s son Hunter Bidensettled his child support case in Arkansas in June, ending a years-long paternity dispute over his 4-year-old daughter, Navy Joan Roberts, whom Biden and first lady Jill Biden refuse to recognize as the his seventh grandchild.
The New York Times published a damning report last week saying Biden aides had publicly said he has only six grandchildren. The report also said the family feud is rooted in “money, corrosive politics and what it means to have a Biden birthright.”
On Thursday, White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre was asked specifically about the report and whether the president considers Roberts to be his granddaughter. to which she replied“I have nothing to share from here.”
In April, Biden listed six their grandchildren by name during a “Take Your Child to Work” event at the White House.
“I have six grandchildren, and I’m crazy about them. And I talk to them every day, it’s not a joke,” he said at the time.
Biden has also placed Christmas stockings at the White House for six of the grandchildren, but has repeatedly left his seventh grandchild out of the annual tradition. But as Biden seeks re-election in 2024 and as speculation mounts about Hunter’s foreign dealings, the president has decided to more publicly embrace his son, Hunter, and grandson, Beau, recently taking them to Camp David two weekends in a row.
CNN anchor Dana Bash said Monday that it is “disturbing on so many levels” that Republicans are using Roberts’ story to criticize Biden, but acknowledged that they are “able to do it” because of “the brand and the kind of person we have.” they all know and believe it is joe biden, because he is who he says he is and someone who is a family man. That’s what we see all the time.”
‘Decency and dignity’
Upon taking office, Biden promised to restore America’s history of “decency and dignity” and threatened to fire any staff member who did not share that vision. However, a new report suggests that the 80-year-old president is prone to yelling to aides behind closed doors and sticking them in for “angry interrogations.”
Hidden from public view, Biden reportedly has such a fast-paced “quick-fire job” that some White House aides are trying to avoid meeting with him one-on-one, Axios reported Monday.
Biden’s one-liners from the staff often include profane condemnations, including phrases like “God damn you don’t know that?”, “Don’t hurt my bulls…” and “Fuck you.” from here.”
Speaking to Axios, former Biden and Senate campaign aide Jeff Connaughton said Biden is “hiding his sharpest edge to promote his popular Uncle Joe image, which is why when anger erupts, it seems so out of public character”.

Biden, who is often asked softball questions by sympathetic members of the press, also has a history of responding with anger or sarcasm when faced with tougher questions.
In late June, the president rebuked a reporter who asked if the president was involved in Hunter’s trade negotiations with a Chinese company. He also called NBC News’ Kelly O’Donnell a “pain in the neck” in the Oval Office over a question about a Veterans Affairs vaccine mandate and once said Fox News’ Peter Doocy. “Stupid son of ab–.”
“Read the polls, Jack. You’re all the same,” Biden said in 2022 when a reporter asked him what he would tell Democrats who didn’t want him to run for a second term.
In 2021, Biden rebuked CNN’s Kaitlan Collins when she suggested he hoped Russian President Vladimir Putin could change his malign behavior, asking her, “What the hell are you doing all the time?”

“I don’t talk business with my son”
President Biden has repeatedly insisted he had no knowledge Hunter’s son business, but several Fox News Digital analyzes show the narrative is becoming increasingly difficult to maintain.
“I’ve never talked to my son about his foreign business,” Biden chided Doocy as he jabbed his finger in the face on the campaign trail in Iowa in 2019. “You should look at Trump. Trump he does because he knows I’m going to beat him like a drum. … Everybody’s looked at him and said there’s nothing there. Ask the right question.”
“I don’t talk business with my son,” Biden said again a month later, in October 2019.
But records show Biden met with more than a dozen of Hunter’s business associates, and some of those associates and top employees at Hunter’s defunct firm, Rosemont Seneca Partners, visited the White House. more than 90 times when Biden was vice president in the Obama administration.
Further away, almost a dozen Current and former officials serving in the White House and Biden administrations, including Secretary of State Antony Blinken and President Biden’s national security adviser Jake Sullivan, have extensive ties to Hunter.
Hunter, who is accused by Republicans of selling access to his father for more than a decade, is expected to make his first court appearance for a tentative parole deal only on July 26 for two alleged misdemeanor tax violations and a weapons offense.
Biden has repeatedly said his son did “nothing wrong” and that he will continue to support him.
U.S. Attorney for the District of Delaware David Weiss, who led the investigation, is facing lawsuits from Republicans probing alleged improper retaliation against whistleblowers who claimed the investigation was “politically influenced” and that Weiss was “lost” when he did decisions of the prosecutor’s officewhich Weiss has denied.
The foreign policy expert
“America is back. Diplomacy is back at the center of our foreign policy,” Biden promised allies shortly after his inauguration.
Biden touted himself as a foreign policy expert who would restore diplomacy to the world stage, but his administration has seen increased aggression from foreign adversaries such as Russia, China, North Korea and Iran.
The series of missteps of the Biden administration during the chaotic withdrawal from Afghanistan in August 2021, which resulted in the deaths of 13 US service members, marked a political turning point for the public’s perception of the president’s competence and ability to lead.

Ahead of what turned out to be a pivotal moment in his presidency, Biden was enjoying high approval ratings on issues ranging from the economy to his handling of the COVID-19 pandemic. But Biden’s decision to withdraw troops from Afghanistan faced widespread global backlash after Taliban insurgents retook the country in a matter of days on August 15, 2021, just a month after the president assured the Americans that the likelihood of a Taliban takeover was “highly unlikely.”
The military evacuation, which required thousands of additional US troops on the ground and significant cooperation from the Taliban to complete, left behind hundreds of US citizens and tens of thousands of Afghan allies, despite the promise of Biden days before “take them all out.” While Biden admitted the Taliban takeover had caught the US off guard, he has insisted he made the right decision to end the war and has refused to fire a single official over the withdrawal.
Biden’s decision to act unilaterally on troop withdrawals without consulting his NATO allies drew backlash from officials in Britain, Germany, Italy and France, among others, and foreign officials they described as a treason and damage the credibility of the United States.
The president campaigned in 2020 on his decades of foreign policy experience with promises to repair America’s standing on the world stage after four years of the Trump administration. However, critics have often compared the withdrawal to the fall of Saigon at the end of the Vietnam War and said that Biden foreign policy the mistakes have given authoritarian leaders the green light to act aggressively around the world.
