Suffolk police arrest suspect in connection with Gilgo Beach murders

Multiple sources confirm to News 12 Long Island that Suffolk County police have arrested a suspect in connection with the Gilgo Beach murders.

News 12 has confirmed that the suspect in custody in connection with the murders is Rex Heuermann of Massapequa Park.

Suffolk and State Police are on the scene on First Avenue in Massapequa Park this morning.

The first of 10 bodies was found along Ocean Parkway on December 11, 2010.

The deaths of 11 people whose remains were found in 2010 and 2011 have puzzled investigators. Most of the victims were young women who had been sex workers. Several of the bodies were found near the town of Gilgo Beach.
