CARVER, Mass. – Authorities are searching for a man wanted in connection with a fatal shooting at a state park Wednesday.
John Geovanni Pires Monteiro Macedo, 20, was seen by witnesses in an altercation with Robert Aponte-Flores, 25, at the Myles Standish State Forest picnic area around 2:30 p.m., according to the prosecutor of Plymouth County District. office
A short time later, police say Aponte-Flores was found with multiple gunshot wounds. He was taken to a nearby hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
In a follow-up investigation, State Police sought and obtained an arrest warrant for Monteiro Macedo.
Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call the Massachusetts State Police Violent Rape Squad at 1-800-KAPTURE.
The investigation is currently active.
Myles Standish State Forest is the largest publicly owned recreation area in the state.
