EVERETT, Mass. – State public health officials are monitoring reports of a respiratory illness at an Everett hotel that serves as an emergency assistance shelter for homeless families.

No active cases of tuberculosis have been identified at the enVision Hotel Boston-Everett at 1834 Revere Beach Parkway, and the local Board of Health is involved in monitoring the situation at the hotel, public health officials in Boston say 25.

“The Healey-Driscoll Administration is committed to protecting the health and well-being of those in our Emergency Assistance (EA) system. DPH, along with our partners who provide support and clinical care EA, has led a robust response to reports of a respiratory illness at one of our EA host sites that includes treatment of any symptomatic individuals and infection control measures,” a spokesperson for the Department of Public Health in Massachusetts. he said in a statement on Monday.

The DPH works with clinical partners to test and treat symptomatic individuals, and the state provides infection control and treatment resources such as masks, COVID tests, thermometers, medications, hand hygiene supplies and disinfectant wipes, public health officials tell Boston 25.

Infection control measures are in place, including promoting isolation of symptomatic people and masking in public areas, public health officials said.

Anyone with medical needs is being evaluated upon entry into the emergency assistance system, health officials said.

The emergency assistance shelter at the enVision Hotel Boston-Everett is run by the Executive Office of Housing and Livable Communities under contract with The Collaborative in Chelsea as the service agency, officials said.
