For this project, the company mobilized its back suction hopper dredger (TSHD) Scheldt River and cutter suction dredger (CSD) Ganga to tackle 1 million m³ of soft sediments.
The main objective of the project was to deepen the access channel and moorings of the newly built quay wall, which will play a role in accommodating the growing number of renewable energy projects in the region
“We took an ecological approach throughout the project by reusing all the dredged material to create a new polder that is being finished for good,” said DEME.
According to the company, the 10 ha polder will serve as a handling and storage area for the continued development of the port.
