Carlethia Russell, the Hoover, Alabama woman who was reported missing and feared abducted has admitted the entire episode was an elaborate hoax. He has now apologized for his actions through a statement provided by his attorney to the Hoover Police Department on Monday (July 24).
“There was no abduction on Thursday, July 13, 2023,” he said Emory AnthonyRussel’s attorney said in a statement read in a press conference in the hands of the Hoover police. “My client did not see a baby on the side of the road. My client did not leave the Hoover area when she was identified as a missing person.
“My client had no help in this incident,” Anthony continued. “This was a single act of her own doing. My client was not with anyone, not in any hotel with anyone at the time she was missing. My client apologizes for her actions to this community.”
Russell also extended that apology to volunteers, law enforcement and friends and family, who spent tireless hours searching for her, according to the statement read by Hoover Police Chief. Nick Derzis.
