As Russia intensifies its assault on eastern Ukraine, it now says it views Finland’s plan to join NATO as a threat. Finland shares more than 800 miles of border with Russia and has been neutral for decades. Sweden is expected to follow. President Zelenskyy said in a speech overnight that if Ukraine had been a part of NATO, there would have been no war.
