Suspect surrenders after standoff in Ross Township
SWAT officers responded to a North Hills neighborhood Tuesday afternoon to a report of a standoff. Thompson Run Road between White Oak Drive and Cherrington Drive was closed as officers responded to the scene. Police tell Pittsburgh’s Action News 4 the incident started as a domestic situation. The victim called 911 to report that her adult son, Robert Gentile, 48, had attacked her and barricaded herself in her bedroom. The woman was able to leave the house. Five people were displaced from a single-family house fire on Amherst Street early Tuesday, according to the Hartford Fire Department. The family was home at the time of the fire and was able to evacuate without injury, according to District Chief Mario Oquendo Jr. from the Hartford Fire Department.
