BUTLER COUNTY, Pa. (EYT) – State police on Wednesday filed charges against an 84-year-old retired Catholic priest in connection with the alleged sexual abuse of a young boy more than a decade ago.

Perry Malacaman84, of Beckley, WV, faces the following charges:

IDSI Person under 16, felony 1 Corruption of minors – Accused 18 or older, felony 3 Indecent assault on a person under 16, misdemeanor 2

The charges were filed by state police in Butler after the victim, now 19, reported that Malacaman sexually abused her approximately 10 years ago.

Police said the abuse is alleged to have taken place at a residence in Center Township, Butler County, beginning in 2012 when the victim was 9 years old and continuing until 2017 when she was 14 years old.

Malacaman is a retired Catholic priest from the Catholic parish of St. Francis De Sales located in Beckley, West Virginia.

He was 74 when the abuse allegedly began.

Malacaman is awaiting a preliminary hearing.

The investigation is ongoing and more details are expected to be released soon.
