Balance the power
In November, we will have the opportunity to vote for change in Oregon. We must balance the power in Salem and eliminate the supermajority. Randy Sparacino will tip that balance and provide leadership to help represent all Oregonians.
As for governor, we will have the opportunity to elect an independent, Betsy Johnson, to lead our state. I have worked with Betsy, and she brings leadership that will be reminiscent of Tom McCall, who did so much for Oregon.
If Oregon can elect an independent governor, it will shake up the nation’s establishment, and we should all agree that politics needs that. So please join me in supporting both of these candidates. Questions or discussion call me at 541-944-1600.

The local GOP is spreading the Big Lie
On July 8, the Jackson County Republican Party Executive Committee passed a resolution rejecting the results of the 2020 election and declaring Joe Biden the illegitimate president. They claim that the movie “2000 Mules” “proves irrefutably voter fraud,” despite all evidence to the contrary.
The film is a so-called documentary about Dinesh D’Souza, a convicted felon pardoned by President Trump who lies almost as compulsively as Trump does. He is known for mocking the student survivors of the school shooting in Parkland, Florida, but the JCRP takes his word on voter fraud more than that of the courts, election officials, legislatures, the College Electoral and the media. They believe what they want, regardless of the facts.
I’m surprised his announcement didn’t get any immediate press, given the prevalence of the Big Lie and the pernicious effect on our democracy.
We all know both parties have uninformed and/or crazy voters. The problem with Republicans is that this is their base. Jackson County Republicans have now joined the Texas and Idaho GOP in officially denying reality and promoting the big lie because without the shocks that swallow this nonsense, they wouldn’t have a party.
