Vernon was sitting, fittingly, in a barber’s chair in the middle of the backyard barbecue…while his friends and family celebrated him.
He had owned and operated Winfrey Barber & Beauty Shop for over 50 years, and was loved by the community. One of their employees told us: “[Vernon] I’d give you the shirt off my back.”
Vernon’s daughter was not shy about how proud she was of him, and has long celebrated his achievements.
When she had her daily talk show, Oprah took her cameras back to visit her father at his establishment.
Before Monday’s celebration, it was obvious how excited he was to plan the event.
