The Union have formally announced the rumored signing of Richard Odada from Red Star Belgrade on a two-and-a-half-year deal with club options at the end of the 2024 and 2025 seasons.

Born in Nairobi, the 21-year-old Kenyan has been playing in Serbia since 2019, when he signed with Red Star U19. The Belgrade senior club retained his rights throughout his time in Serbia, but most of his playing time has been loaned to second division side Grafičar Beograd (25 appearances between seasons 19/20 and 20/ 21) and more recently with the first. – side division Metalac GM (27 in 21/22).

“Richard is a midfielder with positional versatility and great potential to be a valuable contributor as we continue to develop our squad,” Union sporting director Ernst Tanner said in a press release. “He can play multiple midfield and central roles and has the height, speed and physicality we were looking for. We look forward to integrating him this year and encouraging his development for the future.”

Odada will join the Union after obtaining his international transfer certificate and P1 visa, and will take a place on the international list once he does.

Jim started writing for PSP around the same time the Union announced they were looking to hire a tattoo director. These two facts are probably unrelated, but what if they were? He’s on twitter @thejimoleary but keep in mind he’s only 60% football.
