Wharton County fire crews work to extinguish a large plant fire

The City of Wharton has issued a shelter-in-place advisory, asking residents to turn off air conditioning units

WHARTON, Texas – Building No. 3 at the Prime ECO Group plant located at 2933 S. SH 60 in Wharton, Texas, ignited at approximately 10:00 PM on Tuesday, August 3rd. The fire has caused significant damage to the building.

According to the Wharton Police Department, fire crews from across Wharton County responded and are actively working the fire. At the moment, there are no reported injuries.

The City of Wharton has asked residents near the fire to turn off their air conditioning units and shelter in place until full clearance is given.

Authorities have not determined the cause of the fire at this time and will update the public with any breaking news as it becomes available.
