Beverly Chase has been promoted to vice president of programming and current development for Vice News and Vice World News, Variety has learned exclusively.
Chase was previously the long-form executive producer of Vice News. In her new role, Chase will continue to serve as executive producer and showrunner of “Vice” on Showtime. He will now also oversee original programming, specials and long-form projects as he expands his role on “Vice News Tonight.”
“Bev’s superb visual sense and masterful command of story make much of our award-winning work at Vice News,” said Subrata De, executive vice president and global head of programming and development at Vice News, to whom she reports Chase. “She pushes the limits of storytelling in the news, insisting on a cinematic and urgent experience for the audience without compromising the journalistic value of the piece. I’m excited to see his role expand in our programming.”
Chase first joined Vice News in 2015. He has worked on “Vice” on HBO, “Investigations by Vice” on Hulu and “Vice” on Showtime in that time. She was previously a producer at NBC News for 15 years, where she worked on programs such as “Nightly News,” “Today,” “Dateline,” “Saturday Night Live” and as editor of Olympic Games coverage in Torino, Vancouver, and Beijing He has also produced special reports and news on major events such as Hurricane Katrina and the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. In addition to his work at NBC, he has worked on productions for PBS, History, A&E, Discovery, MTV and various documentary projects.
His work has earned six Emmy nominations, nine News and Documentary Emmy Awards, two Peabodys and two DuPont Awards. She also recently received a Gracie Award for Best Nonfiction Showrunner from the Alliance for Women in Media.
