Troops of Sector 1, Operation Hadin Kai, have rescued another Chibok girl in Bama Local Government Area of Borno State.
The Chibok girl, identified as Aisha Grema, was rescued alongside her four-year-old son on Friday.
The Nigerian Army disclosed this on its Twitter account on Saturday.
On July 27, PUNCH reported that two Chibok girls were intercepted during a clearing operation in Borno State.
On Saturday, August 13, the Army also said that three others, including a 12-year-old boy who was abducted since childhood, were also rescued by troops from the 242 Battalion.
The tweet read: “The President of the Association of Officers Wives of the Nigerian Army, Mrs. Salamatu Yahaya, on Saturday, August 13, 2022, donated relief materials and financial support to a girl from the recently rescued kidnapped Chibok school Aisha Grema and three others in Maimalari Military Cantonment, Maiduguri.
“Aisha was rescued yesterday (Friday), August 12, 2022 with her four-year-old son by troops of the 21 Special Armored Brigade, Sector 1 Operation Hadin Kai in Bama Local Government Area, while the three other girls were rescued by troops of 242 Battalion, Sector 3 OPHK in Mongonu LGA of Borno State.
The General Officer Commanding 7th Division, Major General W Shuaibu, disclosed that one of the abductees, Miss Mwanret Daspan, 29, was abducted on Monday, December 21, 2021; Claris Fidel, 22 years old, from N’djamena Chad, was kidnapped on March 25, 2022 while Hauwa (12 years old) has been held captive by Boko Haram terrorists since she was a child.
On April 14, 2014, Boko Haram terrorists attacked the Chibok Girls Secondary School and expelled 276 girls.
57 of the girls were said to have escaped by jumping from the trucks shortly after the abduction, while 80 were released in exchange for some arrested Boko Haram commanders following negotiations with the federal government.
