The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has lined up a big friendly against five-time world champions Brazil next month in a bid to give the Black Stars the best possible preparation for the 2022 World Cup, according to can exclusively reveal to Ghanasoccernet.com.
The Black Stars will face the South American giants on September 23 during the FIFA international break.
The GFA, led by the dynamic Kurt Okraku, is leaving no stone unturned to ensure the Black Stars are in top form for the tournament in Qatar in November.
The Ghanaian federation has been working overtime to secure high profile matches for the Black Stars for the upcoming FIFA Intenrational break which resulted in the decision to play against Brazil.
The match has been made possible thanks to the decision by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to postpone the CAN qualifiers in September to allow the five African teams going to the World Cup to prepare well.
Both federations have signed an agreement for the match to take place as both countries aim to make the best preparations for the World Cup to be played in the Asian country.
The focus is to ensure Ghana play the toughest possible opponents before traveling to Qatar to face their group foes at the global tournament.
It is in this direction that the four-time African champions will face the South Americans next month at a venue yet to be decided.
However, pundits have told Ghana’s leading soccer news group, Ghanasoccernet.com, that the match is likely to be played in Europe. This is because most of the players in both teams ply their trade with the best teams in Europe.
The goal is to minimize travel time for both teams while maximizing the training time the players will have with their national teams during the international break.
Ghana are likely to hold another warm-up during this break to give coach Otto Addo a chance to see about six new players who have switched nationalities to play for the Black Stars.
The matches will be the last warm-up matches before the final call for the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qatar.
