A boy died after being hit by a car Wednesday night in Bixby, police said.
In an email to parents obtained by News On 6, Bixby Public Schools Superintendent Rob Miller identified the boy as Connor Rineheart, a fourth-grader at Central Intermediate.
Bixby police sent out an alert asking drivers to avoid the area after they said a child was hit by a car shortly before 7 p.m. According to police, the accident happened at 169th Street and Highway 64.
Connor, along with a brother and a friend, were crossing the road to go to a nearby store when he was hit, police said.
Police said after the crash, EMSA took Connor to the emergency room, where he later died.
The driver who hit him cooperated with police and was not arrested or charged, according to police.
