St. PETERSBURG – A woman died early Saturday while walking in a crosswalk on S 34th Street after a hit-and-run driver hit her, according to St. Petersburg police.
Cassandra Gelineau, 28, was crossing the intersection at 15th Avenue S at 2:15 a.m. as a driver of a blue 2006 Lexus RX330 was traveling north on 34th Street S.
The car hit Gelineau in the crosswalk with the front of the vehicle, police spokeswoman Yolanda Fernandez said in a news release.
The Lexus was later found in the area, but the driver is still unknown, according to Fernández.
Gelineau was pronounced dead at the scene.
