Proposition A will likely fail after the early vote sputtering
After a lot of downvotes the justice charter amendment, an early forecast shows that the proposal is likely headed for defeat.
The proposal would have decriminalized marijuana and abortion in the city and banned chokeholds and no-knock orders, but the inclusion of a citation-and-release program likely killed the amendment. The early totals were greeted with a smile by San Antonio Police Officers Association President Danny Diaz.

After more than 100,000 people voted early, the election results have started to come in. Early findings include Mayor Ron Nirenberg’s significant lead in seeking a fourth term. The mayor obtained 57,000 of the 95,000 votes accumulated so far in the mayoral race. Of the 98,000 votes cast on the Proposition A ballot measure, approximately 74% voted against the justice charter amendment.
Polls close as Bexar County election counts begin
By 7 p.m., most of Bexar County’s 251 polling places closed as poll workers began counting ballots, beginning with those who arrived early and by mail.
Bexar County Elections Department Offers Live broadcast of election day
During Saturday’s election count, the Bexar County Elections Department is offering a live stream from the department work on YouTube. With a three-camera setup, including views of the polling station, mailroom and tabulation room, the feed will likely pick up once the polls close at 7pm.
Tony Gonzales responds to Allen’s shooting
Saturday, at a mall in Allen, Texas, several people were injured after the burst of gunfire. Among the victims were children.
U.S. Representative Tony Gonzales from San Antonio called the shooting “senseless violence” and said “something has to change” in the wake of the second mass shooting in less than a week in Texas.

Pay attention to the early results as the polls will close soon
Polls close in less than an hour, and early voting results will likely drop shortly after 7 p.m. Election Day ballots will be counted and reported throughout the night. Mark ours Live election results page how races such as mayor, city council and Proposition A are called.
Elections in the Austin, Houston area also take place on Saturday
It’s not just election day in Sant Antoni. From Austin to the suburbs of Houston, local elections are taking place across Texas today. Those elections elsewhere in the state include a $1.26 billion bond proposal Fort Bendthe largest in the history of the city school district.
More than 33,000 voters appear at the polls until Saturday afternoon
As of 3 p.m., 33,870 Bexar County voters had cast ballots Saturday. Jacque Callanen, election administrator for the Bexar County Department of Elections, wrote that with one-third of the day left to vote, all 251 polling places across the county will remain open until 7 p.m. and even later. for locations with online voters at that time.
Jane Fonda endorses two San Antonio City Council members for re-election
Jane Fonda, the Academy Award-winning actress and activist, endorsed it two San Antonio City Council members on Friday who are seeking to retain their seats for a second term. Fonda’s climate-focused political action committee endorsed District 2 City Councilwoman Jalen McKee-Rodriguez and District 5 City Councilwoman Teri Castillo because of their actions on the reform of public services.
Mario Bravo, District 1, was absent from the endorsement after being a vocal voice on the council for public service reform. Bravo faces six challengers in the first district.
Bryan Slaton, evicted from Texas House
In state news, Texas state Rep. Bryan Slaton, R-Royse City, was ousted from the House after the action was unanimously recommended by a panel. The panel found that Slaton engaged in “sexually inappropriate conduct” with a 19-year-old legislative aide who previously worked in his office.
Slaton’s ouster would mark the first ouster of a member of the Texas House since 1927.

Dangerous Weather forecast published for election night
The National Weather Service issued a Hazardous weather outlook for Bexar County and the surrounding area on the Saturday morning before Election Day. Isolated to scattered thunderstorms are possible with the possibility of becoming severe. Large hail, damaging straight-line winds and locally heavy rain are also possible. Rain chances also remain for much of next week.

Officials remember that vote late to stay in line
Voting will continue until 7pm tonight, although if you’re in line at 7pm, Bexar County election officials are reminding you to stay in line. Although you will not be able to get in line after this time, if you already have a seat, you will be able to vote.
Bexar County early voting totals
According to Jacque Callanen, elections administrator for the Bexar County Department of Elections, the busiest day of early voting it was May 2, which had a total of 28,779 voters. There were 106,948 total in-person voters during early voting across the county, which ran from April 24 to May 2 at 43 locations.
However, in San Antonio itself, early voting participation was down 9 percent from 2021, when the mayor and several city council members were last on the ballot, along with another proposed police reform
