BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – This week in Louisiana politics, the state legislature is overturning a modified version of the abortion ban by adding popular exceptions.

State Rep. Delisha Boyd, D-New Orleans, shared her mother’s emotional story along with many others across the state as the strict abortion ban is put into place.

Also, Louisiana shrimpers are asking lawmakers to ban imported shellfish that hurt their business.

The Federal Department of Health and Human Services announced that the public health emergency COVID-19 is over. Ariel Salk reported that nearly 19,000 people died from COVID-19 in Louisiana according to the Louisiana Department of Health. There have been 1,600,610 cases in Louisiana since the start of the pandemic.
