Karim Benzema is set to leave Real Madrid this summer after 14 years in the Spanish capital to join Saudi Arabia’s Al-Ittihad.
The departure of the 35-year-old was confirmed on Sunday through a official statement on the club’s website who referred to the forward as a “pivotal player in this golden era of our history”.
The Ballon d’Or winner will join the Jeddah outfit on a deal worth more than £172,000,000 a year.
Al-Ittihad are currently managed by former Wolves and Tottenham manager Nuno Espirito Santo and won the 2022-23 Saudi Pro League, five points ahead of Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr.
Benzema has made over 600 appearances in all competitions for Los Blancos and is the club’s second all-time top scorer behind only Cristiano Ronaldo.
