Mashpee man dies in outdoor fire likely started by open burning, DA says – Boston 25 News

MASHPEE, Mass. — A Mashpee man has died after an exterior fire that was likely the result of an open burn Monday, the district attorney’s office said.

Roger Collin, 86, was found dead outside a residence on Hooppole Road in Mashpee, Cape and Islands, First Assistant District Attorney Russ Eonas said in a statement Monday.

No foul play is suspected.

Around 11:45 a.m., Mashpee police and firefighters received a 911 call from neighbors about a fire outside 274 Hooppole Road.

When emergency crews arrived, they found Collin, who was badly burned, Eonas said. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators believe the fire was caused by open burning.
