COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
A Columbia man has been charged with domestic assault after allegedly breaking a woman’s leg Monday.
Antonio Hazlett, 36, is charged with first degree domestic assault and resisting arrest. He is being held in the Boone County Jail without bond. A court date has not yet been announced.
According to the probable cause statement, Boone County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to a report of a domestic disturbance. Deputies were let into the home by a witness and a disturbance was heard upstairs. Officers saw the victim leaning against a bed. He appeared to be in significant pain, according to the probable cause statement.
Deputies asked to speak to the two separately, and Hazlett allegedly refused. Finally, he was arrested, according to the statement.
The woman could barely walk due to her injury and claimed she fell, the statement said. A witness told deputies otherwise and claimed it wasn’t the first time Hazlett had broken his leg, according to the release.
A witness allegedly told deputies they heard a loud bang from the bedroom and heard Hazlett pull the woman out of bed. They allegedly entered the room and saw the victim on the floor with his leg bent out of place, according to the probable cause statement.
Medical personnel arrived and said there was a fracture in one of the victim’s major leg bones. According to the probable cause statement, he allegedly could not feel any stimuli in his toes. The medical staff did not believe there was any pulse in the left foot due to the fracture.
