Two 17-year-old males were arrested Monday morning in connection with overnight shootings in Norman, police said.
An officer encountered a suspicious person in the parking lot of an apartment complex around 2:30 a.m., police said.
The suspect appeared to be trying to steal vehicles and when the officer approached him, the suspect fired at the officer, police said. The officer returned fire and the suspect fled the scene, police said.
Around 7 a.m. the same day, the suspect vehicle was found, police said. Police said they stopped the vehicle and two 17-year-olds were taken into custody.
Police said they determined the suspects were also involved in a drive-by shooting shortly after 12 a.m. the same day.
Both suspects were arrested on charges of using a vehicle to facilitate the intentional discharge of a firearm, police said.
The youth who shot the officer was also arrested on a felony charge of shooting with intent to kill, police said.
This is a developing story.
