After getting a new passport, Rahul Gandhi is all set to fly to the US today:
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi received a new ordinary passport on Sunday, two days after a Delhi court granted him permission, news agency PTI reported citing sources.
The former speaker of Congress, who applied for an ordinary passport after surrendering the former diplomatic passport issued to him as a member of parliament, is scheduled to travel to San Francisco, California, on Monday evening as part of a tour through three cities. Rahul Gandhi was disqualified as an MP in March following his conviction and two-year jail term in a defamation case over his surname Modi comment in a Gujarat court.
According to the report, the passport office assured Gandhi in the morning that the passport would be delivered to him on Sunday, and he received it that afternoon.
Congress chief Kharge to meet pilot Gehlot in Delhi today:
Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge will meet Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and his adversary Sachin Pilot separately in Delhi on Monday, PTI reported citing a senior party leader familiar with the situation.
The Prime Minister’s Office has also confirmed Gehlot’s visit to Delhi, where he will also lay the foundation stone of the Rajasthan House.
The proposed meeting follows Pilot’s “ultimatum” that if three demands from the state government are not met by the end of this month, he would launch a statewide agitation. One of Pilot’s demands is a high-level probe into the alleged scams that took place during the tenure of former chief minister Vasundhara Raje’s government.
