Bloomberg News is looking for a dynamic, versatile and passionate reporter to join our Breaking News team in New York. You should have a keen interest in all kinds of news from around the world, with the ability to digest surprises quickly and tell the customer in real time what they need to know, now. You accept challenges, can make split-second decisions, thrive in a fast-paced environment and are an effective communicator in a global newsroom.

As first responders to news, whether expected or not, you’ll be quick and innovative in anticipating where and how the news will break next. You must be adept at navigating multiple sources of information, especially social media, with an awareness of the advantages and disadvantages of each. You will need to be sensitive to the needs of equity-focused clients, in particular, and ensure Bloomberg is covered on anything that could move equity prices and macro markets. You’ll also take the lead in discovering breaking news wherever it happens, leveraging your expertise and the exciting technologies available at Bloomberg.

Make quick and decisive judgments about breaking news such as M&A, IPOs, government news, general news and other global events Stay prepared and focused in a fast-paced and demanding environment Discover news from traditional and new sources Media Use machine learning tools to ensure Bloomberg stays on top of breaking news. Stay on top of important news and trends that matter to market participants. Write early drafts of the stories that can move the market, quickly and accurately, explaining why the news matters. Collaborate with Bloomberg reporters and editors around the world. the world Be a constructive, flexible and reliable team player
YOU MUST HAVE:
A bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience Strong familiarity with social media and ability to evaluate the credibility of information from these sources Experience in financial and business news Demonstrated ability to collaborate and work in teams to achieve goals Flexibility with schedules and assignments
WE WILL ALSO LOVE TO SEE:
Experience working in a real-time news environment Fluency in another language is a plus Familiarity with automation, machine learning and/or natural language processing is a plus

Salary range: USD 90,000 – 125,000 per year + benefits + bonus
The reference salary range is based on the company’s good faith belief at the time of publication. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education/training and skill level.
