Actress Alicia Silverstone on Wednesday endorsed the 2024 Democratic nominee and Biden’s main challenger, Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., even as she admitted she has been disappointed in the Democratic Party.
“Last year, I canceled my Democratic Party registration and registered as an independent voter,” Silverstone wrote on Instagram. “Like many others, I am deeply disappointed with the political leadership at every turn.”
The “Clueless” star said she was tired of “the division, the lies, [and] exploitation at the expense of people and public health”.

The actress called on others who “feel disenfranchised by our government” to give Biden’s challenger a chance. He argued that Kennedy could unite the country and help both “young and old to once again trust our government.”
Silverstone is known for her advocacy of animal rights and her anti-vaccine sentiments. In her post, Silverstone revealed that she had worked with Kennedy on children’s health and environmental issues for more than a decade.

He praised the candidate as a “true leader” and “courageous warrior” who would fight for “mothers, children, the planet, justice and freedom.”

“I love his vision of peace, unity and justice for all. I recognize his commitment to protecting civil and workers’ rights, as well as the health of our children. We need leaders who will solve poverty, pollution, inequality and they will stop wars…Bobby is that leader,” Silverstone wrote.
The environmental advocate and high-profile vaccine critic formally launched his 2024 Democratic presidential primary challenge against President Biden in April.
In his inaugural address, Kennedy asserted that state and corporate powers “have poisoned our children and our people with chemicals and pharmaceutical drugs, stripped our assets to empty the middle class, and kept us in a state of war constant”.
Kennedy pledged to unite the country around common values rather than divisive issues. “I will do it by telling the truth to the American people,” he said.
The DNC has already announced that there will be no primary debates between President Biden and his Democratic rivals. Democrats in Congress have also dismissed Kennedy as a “fringe” candidate the party should not take seriously.
