EVERETT, Mass. — Authorities are investigating after they say the body of a young woman was found in the backyard of an Everett home Tuesday afternoon.
A Springvale Avenue resident reported to police that he found the 18-year-old woman’s body around 2 p.m., according to the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Family identified the victim as Kya Donovan.
A preliminary investigation indicated the woman had no obvious signs of injury, but police labeled her death suspicious due to the circumstances surrounding the location of her body, the DA’s office said.
The family described Kya as “super outgoing, a light in every room” and said in a GoFundMe post that she was an aspiring nurse.
The news of the sad discovery has left the residents of the neighborhood shocked.
“This is not normal here. This is a quiet place and you know if there is no problem,” said one resident.
No arrests have been made at this time.
A GoFundMe page has been set up to help the family with Kya’s funeral costs. To donate, click the link here.
State police detectives assigned to the DA’s office are assisting Everett police with the investigation.
