Brian McDonald is the longest tenured PUSD superintendent in recent history.
The last three superintendents, Percy Clark, Edwin Diaz and Jon Gundry, served a combined 12 years.
If you count McDonald’s time as interim superintendent, he’s been in the position for nine years.
For nine years, McDonald has done his part as enrollment declined, in part because of rising housing costs, which forced more families east to the Inland Empire, where a family can still buy a house, and the reduction of families.
But unfortunately, the man who guided the district through the pandemic and worked with the city to pass I and J, which brings millions of dollars to the district annually, will be leaving the district on June 30.
Either way, McDonald deserves to be kicked out of the district.
And yet, so far nothing is scheduled.
Surely the Pasadena Education Foundation (PEF) or the Pasadena Education Network (PEN) or any of our local nonprofits that support education, that means they’re all interested in sending McDonald’s the way correct
Give the man his due.
