Former President Donald Trump began the weekend by lashing out at his long list of enemies, blasting Truth Social about Biden family conspiracies, the federal indictment against him and perceived disloyalty at Fox News.
In a strange post, he was compared to a “King” and a “Golden Goose”.
Meanwhile, in Philadelphia, the former president’s primary challenger in the 2024 election sharpened his message.
Joe Biden told a room full of union members that the Republicans were coming to take their jobs.
“They’re coming for your jobs. They’re coming for your future. They’re coming for the future we’re building for your children and grandchildren,” Biden told the crowd.

Alexander McCaskill, the former managing editor of “Tucker Carlson Tonight,” is no longer employed by the Rupert Murdoch empire, sources told The Daily Beast on Thursday.
Mr. McCaskill’s name appeared repeatedly in a lawsuit filed by former “Tucker Carlson Tonight” producer Abby Grossberg alleging a misogynistic and toxic culture on the show. Ms. Grossberg claims that Mr. McCaskill “turned on” her and discriminated against her because she was Jewish.

Trump lawyer who dropped classified papers case has now withdrawn from CNN lawsuit
The lawyer who recently withdrew from former President Donald Trump’s case over his alleged mishandling of classified documents has now also withdrawn from Mr. Trump’s lawsuit against CNN.
James Trusty filed a motion to withdraw as an attorney in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida on Friday, asking to be removed from the case.
“Mr. Trusty’s withdrawal is based on irreconcilable differences between counsel and plaintiff and counsel can no longer effectively and adequately represent plaintiff,” the motion said. The motion said Trusty’s withdrawal did not adversely affect Mr. Trump because oral arguments on CNN’s motion to dismiss had not been scheduled, discovery had not yet begun and there were no pending deadlines.

Special counsel Jack Smith watched Trump throughout the historic court appearance, according to the report
Hugo Lowell of The Guardian and others Reporters reported that Mr. Smith sat in the front row during Trump’s appearance on federal charges related to his handling of classified documents after he leaves the White House in 2021 and “looked toward the former president during essentially the entire appearance.”
Smith was appointed by Attorney General Merrick Garland to oversee the Justice Department’s investigation into Trump’s handling of classified documents and his attempts to overturn the outcome of the 2020 presidential election.

Former President Donald Trump’s former personal attorney and the key witness against him in his New York state criminal prosecution lost his bid for early release from parole on Friday after a three-year sentence years in prison after federal prosecutors said he was lying again.
U.S. District Judge Jesse M. Furman in Manhattan cited Michael Cohen’s recent comments in a book and a television appearance as reasons to conclude that early release from court supervision would not guarantee rehabilitation and deterrence of future crimes.
The credibility of Cohen, who served as Trump’s personal attorney from his inauguration in 2017 until his arrest in 2018, will be scrutinized if a jury ever hears the state criminal case brought against Trump over the payments Cohen says that he did on Trump’s behalf to silence two women he claimed had affairs with Trump before the Republican became president.

In North Carolina, a new supermajority of Republicans enacted abortion restrictions. In Vermont, a new supermajority of Democrats pushed through a climate-sensitive home heating law. And in Montana, a Republican supermajority kicked a transgender lawmaker off the House floor.
In each case, the opinions of his political opponents were irrelevant.
By at least one measure, political power is at its highest point in decades. That’s because Republicans or Democrats have such large majorities in 28 states that they could override gubernatorial vetoes without any help from the minority party.
“Supermajorities give a party a lot of power to do what it wants to do,” said Steven Rogers, a political scientist at Saint Louis University who focuses on elections and state legislatures.

Biden fine-tunes jobs message as he prepares to campaign against Trump
Joe Biden kicked off his 2024 presidential re-election campaign in Philadelphia on Saturday, continuing to pitch voters about his pro-labor credentials.
The Democrat told an audience of union members at the Philadelphia Convention Center that he would continue to try to boost the working and middle class with “Bidenomics,” which he framed in opposition to the ideas of Republicans, who recently floated a series of proposals taxes that funnel profits overwhelmingly to the wealthiest Americans.
“They’re coming for your jobs. They’re coming for your future. They’re coming for the future we’re building for your children and grandchildren,” Biden told the crowd. “And when they come as they did last week with the trickle-down economy plan, they cut taxes for the rich, who do you think they’re taking care of the water for?… Who do you think is going to start taking charge of the load? You are. Working people of this country.”

In a rant on his Truth Social page on Saturday, Mr. Trump referred to himself as “The King” in an extended and somewhat inscrutable metaphor about the relationship between himself and Fox News.
