Police were investigating after a man was found crushed to death under a vehicle Tuesday at the entrance to a busy Sugar Land shopping center during rush hour, officials said.
According to Sugar Land Police Department spokesman Doug Adolph, the preliminary investigation showed the man likely forgot to put the vehicle in park and had been trying to stop or push it when it went under. .

Investigators were also considering the possibility that he may have been making repairs under the vehicle when he threw it and crushed it, Adolph said.
Officers around 5 p.m. were called to the intersection of Austin Parkway and Autumn Lakes in response to a crash, Adolph said. Instead, they found a man trapped under a vehicle in the mall’s driveway. A helicopter flew over the crash site for at least 30 minutes as concerned onlookers slowed near the already busy intersection, creating traffic jams in nearly every direction for the better part of an hour.
There were no signs of foul play, Adolph said.
