SOUTH FULTON, Ga. – Residents of a senior apartment complex told Channel 2 Action News criminals broke into more than two dozen cars and said it’s not the first time this has happened.
Seniors living at the Anthem Senior Apartments in the city of South Fulton told Channel 2’s Tom Jones that the burglaries are taking money out of pocket that they don’t have.

Cynthia Hildreth said she burst into tears when it came out.
“When I came out here and saw my car. December. And now,” he said.
Hildreth said someone broke her car window and entered Sunday night and Dec. He is on a fixed income and said car thefts stress him out.
“I have a heart condition and that doesn’t help,” she said.
On Sunday night, the suspects broke into more than two dozen cars and stole one.
“It’s 30 cars this time. It was 21 the hour before,” Donita Etheridge told Channel 2’s Tom Jones.
Channel 2 Action News saw plastic bags covering the broken windows of several cars as a repairman went from car to car fixing windows. Some residents believe the criminals are after money and weapons.
“We don’t have guns in our glove boxes. We’d take them home. We’re old people,” Josephine Edwards said.
The elderly believe that the criminals enter through a wooded area surrounding the complex.
“It has to be fenced. It should be fenced. And a high enough fence,” explained Hildreth.

Residents have asked management for a fence and a security guard from midnight to 6am. They said management told them it would cost too much.
“I don’t feel safe right now,” Edwards said.
Jones stopped by the leasing office to see what management had to say.
A manager made the following statement to Channel 2 Action News:
“My first concern is the privacy of my residents and employees.” He then gave her an email address for further comments.
Residents feel like managers and criminals don’t care.
“We are his grandmothers. His aunts Their mothers,” Etheridge said.
Thornton Kennedy, a spokesman for the resort, later sent a statement that said:
“To say we’re frustrated is an understatement, and they (administrators) are listening to their residents and have taken many, many steps to protect them and protect their property.”
The senior citizens of the complex have had meetings in the town hall with the police and their councillor. But still, this problem persists.
One man said this is the fifth time multiple cars have broken into one night.
