CHESHIRE, Mass. – A 4-year-old girl who was allegedly abducted by her mother and triggered an Amber Alert Thursday morning has been found safe, authorities said.
Investigators tracked Cortana Goncalves to a trailer park on Fifth Avenue in Cheshire shortly before 12 a.m. after her non-custodial birth mother, Brandee Arnold, 32, took her from a family reunion in Springfield, according to Massachusetts.
Arnold, who was inside a trailer with Goncalves, was arrested at the scene.
Goncalves was not injured when emergency crews found her.
After issuing the Amber Alert, state police noted that Arnold had previously made suicidal and homicidal statements.
Arnold allegedly took Cortana in violation of their custody agreement. She will be turned over to Springfield police to face charges in the alleged kidnapping incident.
Additional details were not immediately available.
An investigation remains ongoing.
