BEAR LAKE – An Idaho woman is facing federal prosecution after allegedly hiring a hitman who turned out to be an undercover special agent.
Deann Parkin, 30, of Bear Lake County, has been charged in federal court with using interstate commerce to facilitate a murder-for-hire plot after she contacted a website to kill her ex-husband’s new girlfriend , who lives in Wyoming.
According to the New York PostParkin visited the website RentAHitman.comwhich is a parody website, to try and find someone to murder her ex-husband’s new girlfriend.
According to court documents obtained by EastIdahoNews.com, Parkin provided his Idaho address and phone number, along with the name of the “target.”
She stated in the application (spelling and punctuation unedited): “I would like (the intended victim) to stay away from my husband and my family. He has helped to ruin our family and tear it apart with his abuse of drugs and her prostitution services.She has ruined her autistic son’s life and leaves him with strangers with my husband to care for him and uses her son to get my husband back to her and then hook more into meth so he can go out and do it. his own thing while he’s tearing up the lives of other families.”
The website owner turned the information over to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, which opened an official investigation on May 23.
Also in the application, Parkin outlined the services she wanted to pay for, saying: “Make her go where she won’t ruin anyone’s life, keep in touch with my husband, give her son a better life. She’s ruined enough of my family life that who knows if it is possible to fix it.Take her to another continent or make her disappear completely where no one hears anything again to make her go away for good please and thank you.
A special agent from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives went undercover, posing as a hitman who agreed to provide the services Parkin sought.
Text message conversations between the agent and Parkin are found in court documents and detail Parkin saying he has “500 saved for this” and that he “can’t get this to the police or anybody, I can’t lose my children”. “.
According to court documents, Parkin paid $100 in cash and a diamond ring he claimed was valued at $1,500 as down payment to carry out the murder.
On May 24, the agent and Parkin spoke on the phone while the agent was secretly recording. During the discussion, Parkin stated that she was “willing to do anything” regarding her problem and that she “didn’t care if it means I was in a six-foot hole … I’m fine with that.”

On June 1, Parkin and the agent agreed to meet at Parkin’s workplace in Bear Lake County. He also said: “If this can happen quickly that will be great! I just found out he’s in the process of coming back here, I’m trying to find out where exactly he’s moving.
On June 6, the officer was carrying audio and video recording equipment and met with Parkin at his workplace. When they arrived, Parkin said he was “one hundred percent sure” and showed the officer a photo of the intended victim.
The officer then asked Parkin if he wanted the intended victim to be found, to which he reportedly replied, “No.” The agent asked if Parkin wanted it to look like a suicide, to which Parkin replied, “Whatever is easier. If you want it to look like a suicide, she’s also a prostitute.”
As they spoke, the officer asked if Parkin wanted her ex-husband back after the murder-for-hire was over. Parkin said yes, then said, “I could care less if something happens to the kid. I don’t know your preference for kids.”
The next day, the agent met again with Parkin, who paid her $100, a diamond ring she valued at $1,500, and agreed to pay the rest on an installment plan. The officer left and Parkin was arrested by law enforcement.
Parkin is being held in the Jefferson County Jail on a U.S. Marshals hold. The US Marshals are not releasing any police photos at this time.
A first court appearance was held on June 8, but it is unclear when further court proceedings will take place.
If convicted, she could face up to 10 years in prison and $250,000 in fines.
