One person was killed and at least four others were injured in a shooting in Westmoreland County Friday night, emergency operators said. Two persons of interest, considered armed and dangerous, remain at large. The shooting in the 800 block of Lowry Avenue in Jeannette was reported shortly before 9:30 p.m. The county coroner’s office said a woman died in the shooting. Brianna Kate Lartz, 25, of Jeannette, was found dead at a residence, according to the county coroner’s and district attorney’s offices. “It’s a different kind of wound,” Lester Dewaine Frye, Jr. said. on the death of his daughter, Brianna. , in an interview with Pittsburgh’s Action News 4 Saturday. “It’s a deafening silence that just knocks you in half.” Frye described her daughter as someone “who would do anything for anyone” and as a “great mother” to her two young sons. “It’s really hard to deal with because he was so young,” Frye said. “I’m 54 and you don’t expect to bury your children.” Three people were taken to Forbes Hospital in Monroeville and a fourth person checked into AHN Hempfield and was taken to a hospital in Pittsburgh, dispatchers said. The DA’s office said Saturday that all four victims are expected to survive. The DA’s office identified 25-year-old Deshawn Russell as a person of interest. He is described as 5 feet, 10 inches and weighing 170 pounds. He was last seen wearing a white T-shirt and dark pants. Frye said Russell is the father of Lartz’s youngest child. “I’m just asking you to turn yourself in so no one else gets hurt,” Frye said in the interview, looking at the cameraman as he directed his comments at Russell. Another person of interest has not yet been positively identified. He was last seen wearing a dark blue/black T-shirt and blue jeans, the DA’s office said in a statement. Both men are known to frequent the Wilkinsburg, Braddock and Uniontown areas. “This remains a very active and ongoing investigation,” said prosecutor Nicole Ziccarelli. “We believe both men are armed and dangerous. The safety of the public is our primary concern and we want everyone to remain vigilant as we continue to search for these two persons of interest.” The coroner’s office did not provide a cause or manner of death in the death of Lartz.
