Last year’s So Cal Choppers 18U – Fausett team. The Choppers were run by father Gary and son Dean Fausett.
Sad news coming out of the world of club softball as a legendary head coach gary faucet had died, according to several sources.
gary and his son, deanhe ran the successful So Cal Choppers organization based in Valencia, California. From age 10 to 18, the Fausetts won tournaments, yes, but they also produced great players who would go on to top colleges.
Dean is in Colorado with his team and will likely return home to So Cal to be with family.
Two years ago, Extra Inning Softball ranked the club’s top coaches, and the Fausetts (father and son) collectively came in at No. 28 (all in fun, of course).

Here’s what was written about the father/son duo at the time:
Gary and Dean Fausett (So Cal Choppers)
Father and son coaching legends gary i Dean Faucett have left their mark on club ball over the past three decades and continue to maintain a high standard in the softball world. His 18U team finished 4-2 at PGF Nationals (2022) and tied for 13th in 2021.
The Southern California duo is known for their attention to the mechanics and mental side of the game and has produced players who have gone on to play at Power 5 programs across the country as well as Team USA.
Another Top 50 coach, who has played intense matches against Dean, says the son has learned well from his father and developed his own course to win:
“Who doesn’t love Dean? He’s funny, respectful, coaches a great game and sure knows his stuff. Dean never worries about wins and losses, maybe because he usually wins! But I admire him for that. He doesn’t over-coach on match day – he clearly trains during training and then trusts his players to perform. He’s a pleasure to be around and someone I learn from and admire a lot.”
We will have more information on Coach Gary’s legendary life and career in the coming days.
