A 38-year-old man is facing charges in connection with a fatal shooting when a verbal altercation turned physical Saturday evening.
Responding to a call shortly before 6:00 pm about a shooting in the 7800 block of N. Nebraska Ave., Tampa police officers found a man with trauma to his upper body. He was taken to a local hospital where he later died, according to a news release.
Witnesses, according to the police department, told detectives that Khanji Fairley, 38, shot the victim and fled the scene before law enforcement arrived.
Officers “following developing leads” found Fairley and arrested him, according to the release. The investigation remains active.
