A 66-year-old woman died Saturday evening while walking through an intersection in Pinellas County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The Pinellas Park woman was crossing Park Street North shortly before 6 p.m. at the intersection with County Road 16 when a 65-year-old man from Nevada, driving a sedan, hit her. He died at the scene of the accident. The driver was uninjured, according to a press release.
At least 48 people, including 18 pedestrians, have died in crashes in Pinellas County since the beginning of the year, according to preliminary data from the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles.
